This year is the eighth annual gas safety week commencing from the 17th of September!
The gas safety week is all about helping to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
At the Property Store we take our gas safety records very seriously and regularly stay on top of Gas safety certificates for each and every one of our properties for let. The first gas safety regulations were introduced in 1994 and later resulted in the current Gas safety (installation and use) Regulations 1998 which came into force on the 31st of October 1998. These regulations placed legal duties on landlords, agents and contractors dealing with rented properties. Failure to comply with the gas safety regulations is a criminal offence and the maximum penalty can result in imprisonment or a £20,000 fine. This is why we as agents are supporting gas safety week and always advise arrange all gas safeties with our contractors well in advance and notify our landlords if they arrange these themselves with plenty of time.
